Finally got through the Alamy QC process and I am good to go. Going to start uploading more images this week. I am not thrilled with the keywording process, lots of different levels of keywords which are pretty confusing. Right now I am using PhotoShop to resize the images which seems to work out fine, I just need to automate it a lot.

The day I have been waiting for has finally arrived, the released of the new 5D MKII. Dpreview has a good writeup here.
There are many cool things about this camera. I am really excited to shot some HD video with some L glass or even just convert my 10-22 EF-S lense to mount on the 5D MKII like this guy did. Also shooting on my plastic 50/1.8 should produce some cool footage.
The downside is 21 MP, good god I need to get a lot more storage, but no upsizing for Alamy! I am also a little concerned with the tight clustering of the AF points. I like to shoot wide open when I take kid shots and the focus and recompose method is a bit too slow when you are trying to capture kids running around the yard.
Bottom line though is that I am 99% sure this is my next camera.
They also released the new Canon G10, which looks like a great walk around travel camera.
Looks like I need to start actually selling some images now!

This is a great tutorial on building your own seamless white studio setup. If you shoot stock you know e seamless white look is the de-facto standard for studio shots. With a few gels you can easily make this white background any color you want.

Judging by reports in the forums and my own stats things are starting to happen at Photoshelter. In the past few weeks the number of “I made a sale” post on the forum has increased dramatically. Other reports (and my own stats) show a good uptick in lightbox adds as well.
I can’t imagine how hard it must be to startup a stock agency, kudos to the PhotoShelter team for all there hard work, looks like it is starting to pay off.

Amazingly good time! The models where great and the fellow photographers where awesome. Here are the pics I took that made the cut. I was fighting my ghetto wizards all day, really frustrating and it pretty much cemented my desire to get some Radio Poppers.

My name is Bill Pennington and I entered the world of digital SLRs this past Xmas with a Digital Rebel XTi. I have decided to set a goal of grossing one thousand dollars in microstock sales in 2008.
A little bit about my photography background. I was a photo major in college but only ended up taking a couple of photo classes before I dropped out. I shot a ton of skateboard photos, made a few skatemags and ads. I also assisted a photographer doing some studio work and a whole lot of weddings at place called Heaven on Earth in Missouri City, TX. This was all between 1989 and 1992. My gear at the time was a Nikon FM2 and a YashicaMat 124g.
Since then I pretty much gave up photography to focus on my tech career. I watched the digital camera revolution unfold and finally decided to jump back into it last year. I have had point and shoot digitals during this time but was not that serious about the images I got out of them. I also watched the microstock revolution unfold and decided the stars had finally aligned and it was time for me to jump back in with both feet.
